Job Burnout

International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), the World Health Organization’s handbook for diagnosing diseases, problems that are related to work or unemployment. The symptoms that are said to be a result of burnout can generally also have other causes, including mental or psychosomatic illnesses like depression, anxiety disorders or chronic fatigue syndrome.

The World Health Organization’s handbook says that there are three major burnout symptoms:

• Feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion

• Increased mental distance from your job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to your job

• Reduced professional efficacy

The handbook also says that a burnout diagnosis can only apply to a work situation, and not other areas of your life.

Communication Skills Training and Stress Reduction

Online Relaxation Stress Burnout Support

The ability to relax is necessary for managing stress and anxiety. When we feel stressed, our bodies react by a "fight or flight" response. Our muscles become tense, the heart and respiration rates increase, and other physiological systems become overloaded. Without the ability to relax, chronic stress or anxiety may lead to burnout, anger, low impulsivity, irritability, depression, mental health, medical problems, and more. Helping yourself to relax is the exact reverse of the "fight or flight" response, defined by Herbert Benson (1975). Benson identified the "relaxation response" as the body's ability to decrease a heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, muscle tension while raising oxygen consumption.

Facilitation - Communication Skills Training and Stress Reduction

The class teaches you how-to-relax by teaching you relaxation techniques.

The Stress Relief kit includes videos, audios, soothing music, instruction guides ( eBook, deep breathing, patient education models), and Interpersonal Skill exercise worksheets: How to Reduce Stress, Anger and Assertiveness Training.

Types of relaxation techniques you will learn in the 28-day program:

  • Autogenic relaxation is a technique that teaches your body to respond by instructions. These instructions are commanding your body to relax and may be used to control breathing. The physiological benefits include reducing blood pressure, heartbeat, and body temperature. The goal is to reduce stress and achieve physiological health benefits.
  • Progressive muscle relaxation is a relaxation technique. You focus on slowly tensing and then relaxing each muscle group.
  • Visualization is a Guided Imagery relaxation technique. You are guided to form mental images.

With practice, one can apply these skills to everyday situations and connect to inner peace.
